Parenting programmes

There are many differet types and styles of parenting programme available. These programs are designed to improve parental effectiveness by providing a clear parenting philosophy and a set of positive parenting skills and strategies. Different programmes are designed for addressing certain issues or working with certain communities.

It is important that practitioners, who know the needs of the parents they work with, should select programmes suited to them. The commissioning toolkit is a database of parenting programmes, which provides a good starting point for anyone selecting programmes. (N.B. This toolkit has not been updated since 2013)

Many organisations have already successfully achieved the CANparent Quality Mark. Follow the link to learn more about the Quality Mark and the benefits of becoming part of the network.

The Early Intervention Foundation advises charities and local authorities on the implementation of early intervention.

There are also many other providers of parenting programmes.
