Understanding, educating and caring for children and young people with ASD

Location: Glasgow
Organiser: Children in Scotland

This training workshop will help you understand the development of children on the autism spectrum and use this to devise your teaching and caring strategies. It goes beyond describing behaviour to understanding why that behaviour is there, and recognising that successful approaches take account of ASD and individual differences.

Key learning:

  • Unique characteristics of those on the autism spectrum and mutual empathy problems
  • Recognising individual difference and taking an individualised approach
  • Strategies to create educational opportunities and improve quality of life over the long
  • Developing effective behaviour support plans
  • Approaches for working with complex and challenging behaviours.
